One of the five "basics" of Back to Basics Massage Therapy and Wellness Center (AND life) is hydration.  Here at Back to Basics we are celebrating National Hydration Day on
June 23rd by giving out free water bottles to our clients to help remind them to drink water and keep hydrated. Drinking water after a massage is encouraged as it helps flush free radicals released during the massage as well as relieve any muscle soreness. Most people do not realize how dehydrated they are.  They have minimum fluid intake (coffee doesn't count!) and do not realize how much being properly hydrated adds to the vitality and comfort of their life. At Back to Basics we encourage people to carry their favorite water and drink the amount of ounces that equals half of their body weight on a daily basis; for example: someone weighing 150 pounds should drink 75 ounces of water per day.
Being properly hydrated plays a role in numerous health factors:
*Helps regulate body temperature
*Plays a role in digestion
*Promotes cardiovascular health
*Maximizes physical performance

There are many additional health benefits for staying hydrated;
so help yourself on numerous levels and splurge on a really cool water bottle that inspires you to carry it around! Staying hydrated will enhance your overall
well-being and keep you more comfortable!

Fruits and Veggies

Not only is hydration celebrated in June but so are fruits and veggies!
In the office we use our fruits and veggies in a healthy smoothie in order to help get our daily intake!
Here is a recipe for you to try!
If you have a favorite, we would love to try your recipe!

 Green Smoothie
  1. 1 cup frozen fruit (I like to do half pineapple & half mango)
  2. 1 ripe banana.
  3. 2 cups kale, chard and/or spinach.
  4. 1 1/4 cup liquid (water, coconut water or unsweetened nut-milk)
  5. 2 tbsp. ground flax seed or hemp seed.

June 17th National Veggie Day!
